Book Saadani National Park Coastal Wilderness SafariFrequently asked questions
How long is the drive to Saadani National Park from Dar es Salaam?
The drive takes approximately 3.5 to 4.5 hours each way depending on road and traffic conditions. The final stretch approaching the park is on unpaved gravel and dirt roads, which is why we strictly utilize robust 4x4 safari vehicles for this trip.
Can we swim in the ocean at Saadani?
While Saadani has beautiful beaches, swimming is generally not recommended in the river-mouth areas due to the presence of crocodiles and sharks. Standard beach strolls and relaxing on the sand are perfectly safe.
What kind of animals can we realistically expect to see?
Saadani offers unique sightings of giraffes, waterbucks, wildebeests, and zebras. Elephants and lions are present but more elusive than in Serengeti. The Wami River boat safari offers highly reliable sightings of hippos and crocodiles.
